Is it just me or is the power-spectrum window empty?

BRP3cuda screensaver: Power spectrum

Hi!

I was involved in some of the optimizations done for CUDA BRP3, and one of those sacrificed the availability of the powerspectrum after harmonic summing. In short, the optimization would save quite a few writes to memory because only those values would be written back to (relatively slow in terms of latency) graphics memory that have a chance to make it to the list of top 100 candidates. After the list of candidates fills up with better candidates after a few templates are processed, this converts harmonic summing into an almost read-only activity. So this might be my fault, in a way :-).

With some extra effort it will be possible to bring back the display to life again, but taking the powerspectrum w/o harmonic summing into acccount. I'll check with the AEI developers.

For me it's actually not that important. I'd rather have a fancy full spectrum plot :) but not if it takes too much cpu cycles.

There is life in the display,

There is life in the display, it's just not so overwhelmingly visible. There are slight changes in the bars.

I made a zoomed in screen shot of the Arecibo icon on the star-globe yesterday, in which you can see that there's life in the power spectrum...

Just minimal. :)
