Hi,
Running BOINC 5.10.45, seti@home and added einstein@home. BOINC Mgr shows an einstein file "Ready to Start", so why doesn't it start ? I thought BOINC was supposed to allow my pc to process files from multiple projects.
If BOINC only allows one project to run, then I will jettison einstein, but then I don't understand the point of BOINC.

BOINC say's "Ready to Start", but doesn't

Hi Joel
The fact is that the boincmanager will change between the projects (Seti and Einstein) within a changeable time. This time you can change in "Your Account/General Preferences/Processor usage/Switch between applications every ... Minutes". Your PC has only ony core, so it will run first seti for the time and then Einstein and so on until the WU is done.
Hope it helps.

Hi Joel - welcome to the project.
I just looked at your time of joining the project, the time that your computer last contacted the project and the time you posted your message. Your computer last contacted the project about 45 minutes after you joined and your message appeared about 15 minutes after that. As Sabroe SMC suggests, I think you just need to give BOINC a little more time to do its thing.
The default switch interval is 60 minutes and you should not change that. It's optimal the way it is. The thing that may be delaying the switch to Einstein is the resource share you allocated. If it's 50/50 then the switch will occur pretty close to every hour. However if you gave a greater share to Seti, say 80/20, you will find that your computer will crunch Seti for 4 hours and then give an hour to Einstein. This cycle will continue as long as work is available for both projects.
You will find that BOINC is very good at honouring your resource shares.
Cheers,
Gary.
