in boinc-manager I am not seeing use web-prefs in computing preferences.  This is occurring on one pc only - a pi 4 8GB running ubuntu 20.    All others have that option present.

Reboot the Pi and try again?

Reboot the Pi and try again?  What version of BOINC?

keith, boinc version

keith,

boinc version 7.14.2 and I have rebooted it and removed reinstalled boinc.  I should mention that the pi in question is in a 24 hour delay.  not sure if that would have an impact or not.

The only thing I can think of

The only thing I can think of is some GTK or WxWidgets graphical dependency missing in Ubuntu 20.04.

I don't think that being in a 24 hr timeout could impact the display elements.

Very strange. The only solution I could offer is a newer version of BOINC, like the 7.16.6 version.

keith,I have fixed my

keith,

I have fixed my problem but have no idea why this had any effect.  I was in  a 24 hour timeout with ~5 hours remaining.  After reading other threads on the subject I came away with changing an attribute "Suspend when non Boinc cpu usage ...."  I changed that and no effect.  I had also read that you had to "earn your way out of a timeout".  But how?  I then installed on this Pi 4 N30DGs app and a couple of things happened.  I got two WUs:  hsgamaFGRP5 and my button "Use Web Preferences" under computation preferences returned.

I would really have disliked waiting another 5 hours for the timeout session to have expired and seen no improvement.  At this point I do not know if completion of the timeout would have fixed it or not.

Hmm, I don't remember the Web

Hmm, I don't remember the Web Preferences disappearing in the Manager the last time I got put into a timeout at Einstein.  I was testing a new BRP4 gpu app a few years back I was trying and managed to error out enough tasks to get put into a 72 hr timeout.  Wasn't 24 hours for me.  But I did nothing but wait it out and I got more work that finally validated.

Glad you got it working.
