I have three computers and I made the mistake of creating a different ID for one of the computers. Now, I can't remove that ID in order to use the same one that I have on the other two computers.

I tried the following so far:
Un-installed, deleted the BOINC folder from program files, restarted and re-installed. After I enter my new ID, the application still remembers the old one.

Is there a way for me to delete the account that I don't want? I couldn't find such an option.

No you can't delete and account but you can go in and change the data to something nonsensical. Like put in some fake email address and name, then no one can ever use it. Accounts have data related to them, that data might need to be used someday and the paper trail needs to be maintained, even if it leads to a fake account.

To move your computer to the right account you just need to detach, this will force a loss of all units in that project for that pc, and then reattach to the project. This time when you attach use the right name and password. If you don't want to lose all your current work, set Boinc to no new work, and then when you have finished it all do the detach and reattach thing. When you log in do you use your account number or a username and password? Whichever...make sure you use the right one!!!

Don't forget to report the uploaded tasks.

  • You could also copy the account_einstein.phys.uwm.edu.xml file from one of your other computers:

* upload and report tasks
* detach from Einstein@home
* stop BOINC (manager and client)
* copy account_einstein.phys.uwm.edu.xml
* restart boinc

So, you can be sure to use the right account.

All very important things to do, I am glad you were there checking on me. The user needs to do it right the first time, not 3 times later! Thanks!!
