Noticed that the project wasn't progressing yesterday, nor is it today. The computer has been rebooted and is otherwise idle - Task Manager show System Idle Process as the biggest CPU user. Never had any problems with BOINC before.
I've freed up some hard disk space (now almost 2 GB free), and followed another user's suggestion to adjust BOINC preferences to allow 100% memory usage and swap space, but these changes don't make a difference.
Any ideas on what could be going on? Tx.

BOINC Manager - Status shows Waiting for memory

Hi Robert,
are we talking about *disk* or (main-) *memory* usage?

Hi Michael,
If you are asking about the BOINC Manager preferences I tried changing, all three were on the same "disk and memory usage" tab: one (swap space) was under Disk usage section and two were under the Memory usage section. (I freed up hard disk space by deleting files and using Windows' Disk Cleanup system tool - I had only 180 MB free.)

Your computer (1572222) doesn't have any tasks downloaded, neither from Einstein nor from SETI@home. So, it's no wonder that it's idle. ;-)
Any hints in the Messages tab?

Hi Gundolf,
I do have an Einstein task, and it's 10.00% completed (even if still Waiting for memory).
I just checked Messages, and the latest series show 11 identical messages beginning around noon today: "... Einstein@Home|Restarting task LATeah0014_32.0_50_-5.78e-10_1 using hsgamma_FGRP1 version 22]"
There are several messages, also from today, that appear before this last series, mostly that list my preference limits regarding disk & memory use. But I don't see anything that pinpoints the problem(s).

Try the link in my previous message. I just checked it again and is show no active tasks, only one timed out and one completed and validated.
Ah, I see: LATeah0014_32.0_50_-5.78e-10_1 is already beyond deadline (31 Aug 2011 21:45:10 UTC). So, if it's not running anyway, you could abort it as well.
Perhaps you should disable downloading of Gamma-ray pulsar search #1 tasks in your Einstein@Home preferences. I did so, too, on my laptop, though it did finish one successfully.

Gundolf

Hi Gundolf,
I clicked your message's link. Yes, I'm overdue, but by just one day; I think I've been overdue on other projects before but they continued being processed until complete. If aborting the current task might "unclog" things, I can do that. I'll have to look into how to change my preferences for pulsar projects; do you think there's something difficult about it/them that might cause problems?

Hi Claggy,
Yeah, 512MB of RAM isn't much; it's an old computer. Fresh RAM would be cheap too.
