A few hours ago BOINC manager says "disconnected". It is set to always run. There are no work units showing, no messages, no projects active. What happened? I can't find any option or control to re-start the processing. Any help much appreciated.

When BOINC is started from start/all programs it returns an error box "connection failed" / "OK". So, is the EAH server down or overloaded and denying connections?

Could your firewall be blocking BOINC's access to the internet?

Good suggestion - a second system is about ready to upload its result and get a new workunit. They're both on the same 2-Wire DSL switch/AP. We'll see if it hangs. Thanks, Ron

Ron, This is not related

Ron,

This is not related to your connection problem but I noticed that your Celeron is returning WU's with "Client error" messages that are indicative of the Einstein 4.79 the "Graphics Bug" - i.e. Exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005).

You may have noticed an announcement on the EAH homepage (dated today) about a new science application being released named "Albert". It appears that "Albert" will be downloaded to all of us relatively soon; and, "Albert" should fix the "graphics bug". Therefore, the best thing for you to do is to stop using the BOINC screensaver (or "Show graphics" option) until "Albert" is downloaded. This will keep your v4.79 WU's from failing.

Stick, thanks - I hadn't seen the Albert announcement, though I have noticed the client errors on the Celeron system.

OK - it's connected again and processing. Seems it won't process unless the connection is active (unlike Seti@home classic). There was an automatic Java update from Windows XP today on this system. It also installed a Google bar with blocking in Internet Explorer which I don't want - no more plug-ins, dupicated functions, extra code and bugs. I shut off virtually all of the features and BOINC is working now.
