The ones which are running are all CPU projects/applications.
The Einstein tasks are all GPU - graphics card - BRP3cuda32 tasks. They're not interchangeable - BOINC can't put one 'ahead' of the other.
It should be able to process them side-by-side, though. I see no sign of a GPU app running at the moment - do you perhaps still have a "Don't use GPU while the computer is in use" setting somewhere? Or even "GPU processing suspended"?
Correction...I forgot that I had suspended GPU activity a few days ago using BOINC's own Activity tab and meant to turn it on again...dammit. Now nearly all my Einstein WU's have been aborted.
That's too bad.
My fault, sorry to trouble you.
I guess that will teach me a lesson to look in all areas and not just the project preferences.
Pity they couldn't have fallen back on the CPU as a backup.
Well I've stopped processing anything that uses the GPU as BOINC has no setting to limit usage of said GPU and I am sick of getting my screen suddenly blacking out because the GPU is running at 105°C with the fan roaring - it seems it's full GPU use or no GPU use, nothing in-between.
As one can limit the usage of the CPU so one should be able to limit the usage of the GPU - to a percentage of the whole.
If all that Einstein can put out are WU's involving Cuda then I'm afraid we are about to part company.
You might not get workunits immediately depending on BOINCs "debt" calculation which makes sure thtat the resourse shares you defined for the projects are observed in the long run.
I have only an Opteron 1210 CPU, no GPU. and I am running 5 standard projects plus a VirtualMachine, all on Linux. I have a second VirtualMachine running SETI@home on Solaris but I keep it suspended, due to the SETI@home long deadlines. I have 6 SETI WUs in a pending state.

That's something that needs to be done on the driver level, so you'll have to request that from Nvidia. At this moment the GPUs can only go on, or off, there is no way in between.
The BOINC throttle function will work on the GPU as well, as long as the CPU is still very much used, as when you throttle the CPU you also throttle the data flow to the GPU. The less the CPU is used, the less effect the throttle function will have.
Again, no there is no GPU throttle function and there will not be one until Nvidia (and ATI) deem it necessary and add that function to their drivers.
If you GPU temp is getting that High, you really should be taking it out and cleaning the dust out of it,
doesn't matter how high the fan runs, it's never going to be kept cool,
Boinc Ignoring Einstein Projects
)
What strikes me is that all of the running/waiting to run tasks are CPU tasks and all tasks ready to start are GPU tasks.
Did you (inadvertently) disable the processing of CUDA tasks?

Hi!
E@H also has CPU-only workunits.
You can select which workunits you allow to be sent to you here : go to
http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/prefs.php?subset=project and click on the "edit" link.
You might not get workunits immediately depending on BOINCs "debt" calculation which makes sure thtat the resourse shares you defined for the projects are observed in the long run.

Thanks for all the tips - very interesting & helpful.
Now off to see what else I can do about the other projects that have similar demands on the GPU occasionally.
