Boinc Hide

You could run BOINC as a service automatically when your machine boots. There would be no BOINC Manager running - no icon in the systray. With the version you are running (4.45) the service setup is part of the installation procedure. Probably the easiest way to achieve a service installation would be to:-

  • * Exit the currently running BOINC.
    * For safety make a backup copy of your entire BOINC folder.
    * Use Windows to uninstall BOINC (your current work will not be harmed).
    * Reinstall 4.45 using the "service install" option.
    * BOINC, running as a service, should pick up from where it was stopped.

Personally, I've not done a service install with 4.45 so I don't know if there are any particular "gotchas" but I don't think so. For safety, there are instructions for installing here in the Wiki. Go an check out the details.

I also notice you have some old computers in your list and some newer ones which may be duplicates of the one physical box. How many computers do you actually have and do you need any assistance in cleaning things up?

Cheers,
Gary.
