Since months Boinc Einstein statistic constantly shows NO progression. But if I look at "All tasks for ..." / http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/results.php ..." I can see I´ve got credits. For example:

LATeah0112E_80.0_468_-1.7e-11_0 214480239 xxx 25 Mar 2015 18:34:35 UTC 31 Mar 2015 15:59:42 UTC Completed and validated 30,024.90 29,302.43 203.47 693.00

Gamma-ray pulsar search #4 v1.05 (FGRP4-SSE2) PM0012_03391_380_1 214472571 xxx 25 Mar 2015 18:34:35 UTC 31 Mar 2015 15:59:42 UTC Completed and validated 33,878.10 4,448.43 30.89 4,400.00

So what went wrong? I use Boinc 7.4.42 on a Win7 system.

BTW: What´s the difference between "Claimed credit" and "Granted credit"?

Boinc Einstein stats constantly shows NO progression

Where are you looking at these stats? I see the stat sites I look at show Einstein progression just fine. Also on your page I see you have progression in Einstein on the stats area.
[pre]Project Total credit Average credit Since
Einstein@Home 126,772 107 11 Sep 2006[/pre]

So currently all looks good to me.

I´m talking about stats

I´m talking about stats visualized in Boinc (5. tab). Over months constantly nothing happened there.

Yesterday, unbelievable, I´ve got approximately 5000 points. No idea why now.

You have quite a nice machine with a very capable GPU. If you wanted it to, your setup could easily produce many tens of thousands of credits per day, let alone over "months". If nothing has been happening, the choices for reasons why are:-

  • * Your machine has not been running very much.
    * Your machine has been ignoring Einstein and doing other projects (what resource shares have you allocated?).
    * Your machine has been returning work that is not valid. If you look at your

list of current results, there is one with a compute error but two more that are perfectly valid. Even with some invalid results, you would still expect a lot of credit over "months" if the machine was actually returning work.
On balance, it just looks like you haven't been crunching Einstein work so that's most likely the reason why your stats have been flat-lining.

Why do you say "unbelievable"? If you follow the above link and view your tasks list, you will see that a GPU task was completed and validated on 31st March. You should also see that you haven't received any new work since 30th March so it's reasonable to assume that your BOINC client isn't exactly 'pestering' the project :-). The stats in BOINC Manager will only show the jump in credit after communicating with the project sometime after the credit is awarded. Undoubtedly the credit jump you saw recently will have come from that 31st March task. The delay in seeing it was probably due to no communication with the project until "yesterday".

One other thing you might be interested in. If you are happy for your machine to continue doing GPU tasks like the one you got 4,400 credits for, you should consider changing project preferences to allow your machine to participate in beta tests. There is a BRP6 GPU tasks beta test app (v1.52) that is quite a bit faster than the standard v1.41 app that you are using. All you need to do is click the project preferences link on your account page and click on 'edit' to allow you to change 'no' to 'yes' for the question about allowing beta test applications. The app appears to be quite stable and a lot faster.

If you're happy with all that, you could consider running 2 GPU tasks concurrently rather than one at a time. Two will take longer to crunch than one, but quite a bit less than it would take to crunch two individually. This would give you a further big boost in credit received over time. If you're interested in this, you will find a preference setting for it. The "dangerous" comment is only to warn people that your GPU will be working harder and is likely to run a bit hotter. You need to make sure your cooling solution is up to the task.

Cheers,
Gary.

Ok, understand. Thx for your comprehensive answer.

And second, I´ll give this beta thing a chance. :)
