Hi,
I have v 5.2.13 installed on WinXP professional (regularly updated) 1,6 GHz Centrino running Einstein and SETI.
Sometimes after the computer startup BOINC does not minimize to systray and stays open in taskbar. However, the BOINC taskbar button is completely inactive (cannot be closed, maximized, etc.). The only way how to dismiss the taskbar button is to open BOINC Manager by double-clicking on the Boinc icon in the systray and closing the boinc window. Then the taskbar button dissapears.
This bug is going through all 5.2.x versions (in 4.x version everything worked normally). Reinstalling does not help. The chance that this happens is about 80 % of computer startups.

I saw it's already in BoincZilla here, so the developers are aware of the problem. Use the workaround.

easy option is to go start/programs/startup and inside that you should see the boinc shortcut icon - right-click and cut that and then paste to desktop - basically, once windows has loaded, fire up BOINC - end of prob,

Gray,
Thanks for posting that simple workaround.
I'd like to add, somewhere prominent, that we should take a moment in our eagerness to get started to consider carefully the implications of the 2 options on the configuration screen, "Make Boinc your default screensaver" and more so, "Launch Boinc at logon"
