BOINC "DISCONNETED"

I've experienced this problem too. The cure is simple.

Make sure that the back-end of the system is running. Your CPU usage should be 100%.

Start up the BOINC Manager (BM).

Open the main window and click on "Select Computer" from the file menu.

In the top field of the resulting dialog type "localhost" (without the quotes). Leave the lower field blank.

Click OK and all should be well in the BOINC camp!!

If this fails repeat the process a couple of times, it should eventually connect. Else, just quit BOINC completely and re-start the application by manually re-running the BM.

Hope this helps.

Bent, i'm afraid you simply picked a bad day to setup Einstein for the first time. There have been server problems for almost a day now. You might try the little workaround mentioned on this thread, or if you plan to connect to other projects as well (like SETI), you might try one of those first.

Do you have any firewall? If running Boinc Manager this one need to connect to the local host. If a Firewall is running it needs to allow the Manager to connect to Boinc CC through the local host.
If these changes were needed and you still can't have the connection, shut down the Manager and start it manually, this sometimes solves the problem.

The thing with the

The thing with the disconected boinc manager appears not always to be fixable (according to posts on seti boards).

But if it is on your computer then there are two possibilities:

1) as mentioned, select computer, type localhost
2) if the above doesn't work (it would not on my computer) type the computer name instead (works on my computer)

This issue have been reported since boinc 4.25 and remains (worsened, if my observations are correct) in 4.32
