The BOINC Core Client 5.10.28 has been made the recommended version (at least on Windows). I don't know much about other properties of the client, but it should now actually report the "end" of stderr_out that would contain useful debugging information and which was truncated by previous client versions.

So you mean .28 then... Or .27, which also did the last 63KB. .26 didn't.
Anyway, check the BOINC Change Log, I'm pointing to 5.10.27's change log there. If you scroll any direction, you'll find the changes for .28. :-)

Nothing on the Ubuntu update server jetzt.

Rom released 5.10.28 for Linux to the alpha testers last night. So it's a bit behind the other OS versions.

AFAIK .27 was released as a development version, but never made it to a recommended one, did it?

I wouldn't be so eager to install this... I ran into a problem!
I have a single-user installation and installed over top of 5.8.16 after I had completed a task and had shut down the manager. After the installation, it said that the configuration was bad. I had not made a backup, so the only thing I could do is to try to install 5.8.16 again. The first install of 5.8.16 ended up telling me that there was an internal application error. The "repair" that was done when running the 5.8.16 install again has it to where I am now back in business...
These kinds of things are what made me stay away from 5.10.x in the first place...

Yes, that's why I'm not making Einstein require a specific Client version (other than the 4.19 minimum).

Well, my "joy" with doing the "upgrade" is like a gift that keeps on giving. I decided to install the VMware Player upgrade tonight. The installation process involves uninstalling the previous version, rebooting, and then the install picks up when Windows comes back up. After I rebooted, my BOINC shortcut no longer worked. It started searching for a file (next time, I'll write it down). It did that yesterday when I had installed 5.8.16 for the first time and AFTER I got some message about the internal application error. Another "repair" install made it work again...
Naturally I couldn't find any posts about this kind of issue when I looked, and I'm going to bed in a few minutes...so I'll play around with it more tomorrow. :sigh:

If you're referring to the ubuntu repository packages, I wouldn't count on ubuntu updating them even when released on the boinc site. They typically don't update the boinc packages much, if at all, from what I remember.
