I upgraded to a couple of versions of BOINC in the last couple of months. The version I have now is 5.4.11. Whether or not BOINC is transferring files or not, Zone Alarm is showing BOINC continuously accessing the interenet. If I put on the lock, it says boinc is trying to transfer something or another (can't remember exact phrase). It makes me feel uncomfortable. I also know its BOINC, because I close it down and the activity stops.
What if someone is trying to access or has accessed by computer? I wouldn't know because of the continuous activity ... a little less than every second.
I have uninstalled and installed but nothing seems to stop this even when it is suspended.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

BOINC continuously phoning home?
)
I do not use Zone Alarm but I seem to remember some discussion here regarding it several months ago; and, if I remember correctly, what you are describing is normal behavior (e.g. internal communications between the BOINC Manager and the BOINC Client). I suggest you do a message board "keyword search" on "Zone Alarm" and see what turns up.
BOINC and BOINCManager talk
)
BOINC and BOINCManager talk to each other over TCP/IP, once per second. So ZA is seeing this local traffic. It's also why it's a continuous steady pulse. NOTHING is going over the net.
To stop ZA from screaming, let it talk on localhost without complaining, or install BOINC as a service and shut down the Manager.
