Hi. Today i tried the new Boincclient on my Kubuntu 5.10 system. When i try to run the Boincmanager there were problems binding to the GUI(some fonts were missing).
That issue i had even since Boinc 5.2.6.
When i tried to run the boinc_client it got really nasty. It spew out error messages on an on, but i couldn't stop it. after half a minute the messages stopped for themself. See here :

Check, if TCP ports 31416 or 1043 are used by another application:
> lsof -Pi | grep 31416
Only BOINC and science apps should be listed.

PS: Just noticed that after reverting back to port 31416 BOINC is the *bad guy* using ports registered by others:
boinc 21252 hawkeye 5u IPv4 58940 TCP *:xqosd (LISTEN)

Thank you for your reply ! But it doesn't help.
I run boincclient with --no_Gui_rpc option in the commandline. I have hoped, that i can see the GUI of the Boincclient. Must be my system. I want to update my system in the near future also. So maybe this problem is then solved anyway.

I had the same problem because I installed two instances of BOINC - one from repository and second from official site. After deleting this from repository everything started work :)

I had the same bug on Debian. I noticed the lo interface was not configured. I solved it typing :
fconfig lo 127.0.0.1 netmask 255.0.0.0I also had a similar bug because of rosetta processes (from WCG) still running while boinc had been stopped and killed. I solved it typing :
ps afx | grep rosetthen I killed each process.
