Hi all, long time cruncher rare poster. So I've been running boinc without really paying attention to what is running for years. I split between SETI and Einstein@home. Today I got bored and actually read into what both projects are working on and I'm a bit confused at the moment.
Einstein is currently including arecibo binary pulsar search tasks in the workload. SETI is sending me astropulse tasks. Both take data from arecibo and sift through it looking for pulsars. Is there some major qualitative or methodological difference between the two searches? I mean I suppose there must be but I haven't been able to find anything explaining what it is.
Can't imagine you'd all be duplicating each others works in such a high profile way.
Anyways, just curious.

Astropulse looks for ET ( on the hydrogen line? ), but might find pulsars. ABP's look for pulsars.

I think Astropulse is exploring a wider band than the hydrogen line. I am running it too, but WUs are rare.
