I recently rejoined Einstein with a newer PC. I see two WUs are being worked on at the same time. Wouldn't they go faster in series, one by one?

You have a dual core CPU, meaning that BOINC will use both cores at the same time to crunch tasks. You can set the amount of cores BOINC can use through your preferences.
