In Boinc project ,yes.. but how many users are there in
for ex. folding@home?.. tried to find their userstock but all I could
find was number of cpu:s there... :/

Folding at Home has had a total of 453,500 users return at least one work unit. And 196123 machines have returned a WU in the last 50 days.
F@H is about the only DC project producing lots of papers that are really advancing science - I find it quite neat that they had four great papers published in the first 4 months of 2005. They have definately gotten past the point of working mostly on the algorithms and project servers and are now concentrating of science.

Interesting. I understand the desire to look for an ETI, but believe there are or will be (once SETI@home classic shuts down) a glut of volunteers. I also understand the desire to search for gravity waves, but again there are or will be a bucket load of volunteers. As I hear more about the different aspects of world wide pollution I believe the model Climate Prediction is using is not the way to go (but that's just me and I really have no idea).
So, the projects that I think will be getting more of my cycles are Protein Predictor and LHC@home. BURP is a nice idea but it's just entertainment and not science. Folding@home on BOINC will not be using the BOINC credit system, so it has no great interest for me and they have a bucket load of volunteers anyway. There are a few other projects that interest me, but aren't public so the stats aren't either (did I mention I was a slight credit whore). Mind you, I really hate to see my RAC head to zero on a project so the ones I'm already doing will always get a few cycles (as long as the stats are public).
I know this is off topic, but don't all threads end that way?

The model is in an alpha stage for an improvement that will add something about the sulfer cycle. I have not looked into this either, but I just wanted to point out that they are now getting enough models back to look at the results so that they can improve the software to do a better job of modeling.
Its like LHC@Home doing models to predict performance and then changing the models .
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that the real problem with weather prediction is no one has a model that works well, so, all we can do is to make one, test it to see what it does, then change the model so that it works better. Because you have to look at thousands of tests to know if you are on the right track this is an obvious candidate for BOINC. So, I just wanted to try to rope you back into CPDN as we do have issues with weather and no one knows if, for example, global warming is really happening or if the changes in weather are a "normal" deviation ... remember, Europe was in a mini-"ice-age" just a coupe hundred years ago ...

That still has to be decided, and I think the most likely outcome atm is a conversion factor from the native FAH points to Boinc credits. The whole system is comparable, and a simple muliplication will probably be suitable.

I got exactly 28 credits for a 10 hours wu with folding@home on boinc, while I get approx. 30 for a 2h seti-wu.
