Working, and working since 30+ hours ... current thread "h1_0862.50_{text following}".
For minutes. Updating E@H status did not help.
Of course, the next waiting thread is now NOT active.

Is that 30+ hours since the task originally started or 30+ hours since it reached 100%? It's more than 12 hours since you posted so if the task is still sitting at 100%, try stopping and restarting BOINC. If that doesn't work, try a complete reboot - in fact you may as well do that anyway. Tasks might sit at 100% for a while before finishing but certainly not anything like 30 hours.
You shouldn't expect it to help since it just forces communication with the servers to report completed work or request new work. A job is not completed until the status shows "Ready to report" and until that stage an 'update' will not help.
It sounds like BOINC is stuck (or rather that the science app is stuck) so the best option is to try stopping and restarting. It should go back to the last saved checkpoint and then continue to the finish (hopefully not getting stuck at the same point again).
