There are people who actually study and publish instructions for laptop/notebook/etc dis-assembly, and subsequent re-assembly. Sometimes on a per model basis. I discovered this for my Dell. Just Google, say "Toshiba notebook disassembly", and you'll get this straight off. Or this for Samsung's.
A terrific service obviously filling a DIY need that the manufacturer's don't, especially if warranty is not an issue. Saves you re-inventing the wheel, frustration, breaking stuff - one never is quite sure how much 'give' is available, as you don't know whether it is actually screwed in, has a little detente notch, should be slid a certain way or whatever. Because you can't see what's inside before you've got inside, or because you need to open the crate using the crowbar that you will later find inside. :-)
Cheers, Mike.
I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...
... and my other CPU is a Ryzen 5950X :-) Blaise Pascal

I found one for my Dell a while back and it helped me replace a broken keyboard, I am typing, and crunching, on it now! 20 bucks for a keyboard was a whole lot cheaper than a new laptop!!
Even if a task takes 100 to 120 hours, that's still only 4 - 5 days of computing. The tasks come with a timer of what 14 days? It shouldn't load up that many to cause them to time out before completion unless for some reason it's loading up a bunch of the binary tasks for the CPU and treating them like gpu tasks for time?

If god meant for us not to BOINC he'd have made our #$%^%^ shorter!!
Not all joined machines run all day long. It would be only 2-3 hours of computing in a day if boinc is set to run when the machines is idle and during office hour.

My Linux box with its Opteron 1210 at 1.8 GHz runs 6 BOINC projects, all equally shared, plus 2 Virtual Machines. My first BRP3 task, no CUDA, is now at 90% after 43 hours elapsed time.It should meet its deadline of Jan 31, running 24/7.

I am seeing white bars appearing and disappearing on my Arecibo Power Spectrum in a running BRP3 unit. But is it Arecibo or Parkes? Also the orange circle seems to be in the southern hemisphere, while the white circle is up North,

I had one like that the other day and it was on this quad core.
It took 20 hours and the credit recieved was 500

It was the only Binary I have got like that on my machines lately.

Hmm 40hrs doesn't sound that bad to me. I get some running 125 hrs.
This is my 5 year old desktop with dual 2.4Ghz Xeon (hyperthreaded)
It's running Ubuntu with pretty much 100% dedicated to E@H.

Hi!
Yup, PCs running on Pentium 4 (Netburst) architecture CPUs really crawl on Einstein@Home. Back then AMD still had the better CPUs.

To project admins:
Is it possible to extend the deadline of brp3-cpu tasks? That would make those old-fashioned machines' life easier:)
