I see much discussion about

I see much discussion about "it's in there" vs. "it's not in there"... I had the thought of case-sensitivity, but I needed to get going to class...

Anyway, what I use is XVI32. You can download it from Softpedia here.

It's in mine, at Hex address 00110de4 - shortly after exp2 exp10 log2, and before PATH runtime error TLOSS error SING error.

File is einstein_S5R3_4.32_windows_intelx86.exe, dated 12 Feb 2008 at 21:23, downloaded 13 Feb 2008 18:51 (I'm in UTC timezone).

Ah - the actual string is "AuthenticAMD". Were you doing a case-sensitive search?

Having used a different hex editor, I agree totally. Sorry about the misleading posts earlier - the other editor couldn't see it.

But it's right where you said it is.

Regards,

Rob.

RE: In case anyone is

In case anyone is curious, I'm about 1 day away from making the change to see if AMD processors have penalties...

If someone has already checked this out with a performance monitor / whatever, please speak up... :-)

G'Day Brian,
I use AMD only on this project, four Opteron and one X2 4800+ machines, I have found no speed or other penalty at all. I use both Windows and Linux.

I remember the huge increase in processing time and corresponding credit drop that occured way back when. It is what made me try the power apps.

Now it seems the Einstein project team has it worked out, my computers have hit all time speed records for processing a work unit and except for one occassion on one of my Linux machines I have had no errors either.

I am now using Power Apps on all machines and the increase in productivity is amazing.

Well done Einstein Team.

I have not used any form of measuring for penalties just following my results and I am very happy with the results I am getting.

Well, then you probably don't want to try 4.36.

Not going to drop 4.32 live while testing 4.36, or was there too many issues with it?

4.36 seems to play very nicely on my machines. However, I do not use the graphics, so cannot speak to that.

See first post in this thread.

4.32 is for SSE capable machines only. It apparently doesn't check for compatibility before running, so non-SSE capable machines would fail if 4.32 was released for all Windows systems.
