Yesterday we had a statement

Yesterday we had a statement of green politicians here which dominated the media that southern Europe is becoming increasingly uninhabitable, the temperature today will reach 48°C (118F) there. They picked ground temperatures instead of the usual 2m above ground. Propaganda. It's actually very hot today, but (only): 37..38°C (98..100F) in Italy and southern Spain. 36°C (97F) in East Germany. Humidity is here down to 30 %. Until now the hottest day of the year. In my living room: 28°C (82F) (without A/C). As long as such heat waves last less than 3 to 5 days, it's still comfortable in my house. Tomorrow we'll only get 29°C/84F, and there's a small probability for weak thunderstorms in the evening (little rain & wind).

I was wondering about you and the rain/thunderstorms.  I saw that on my weather app.  Hope you're doing okay!

It was noisy and wet but didn't get 80 mph wind gusts.

Update.

The eastern edge of my city has lost power and has lots of tree branches down.  That happened yesterday.  Just found out about a little while ago.

So I am guessing they had a lot more wind than I did.

My sister and brother both live in East Lawrence and both have no power.

We drove from middle Illinois to Bloomington Illinois today then after lunch with more relatives drove back to St Louis is preparation to fly home tomorrow morning. HUGE Thunderstorms were off to our East as we drove all day long, fortunately in the US weather travels from the West to the East so we didn't get anything but a few sprinkles. WOO HOO!!!
