Snow and Cooler temps are coming to the lower Midwest near you. Especially Kansas, USA.

The forecast a couple of days ago said snow early Saturday morning.

Now they are predicting it might start at noon.

Slow weather? I could live that. Especially if it meant tornado didn't spin so fast.

Winter Storm warning 1"-3"

Winter Storm warning 1"-3" this evening local time to mid-day Wednesday local time.

Over Kansas, USA.

My news feeds say the north east USA is getting lots of snow. California continues to be wet down.

Colorado may be getting enough that the ski resorts are open.

And later this week it gets pretty chilly (20F or less).

Stay warm and home if you can then!!

For me it's in the low 50's today for highs but tomorrow it will be in the mid 60's then back down to the 50's again the next day, a bit of a roller coaster season temps wise for us as it slowly but mostly gets back into the 60's every day next month.

We got sustained wind at my

We got sustained wind at my house yesterday.  I have an anemometer that is connected to Davis weather hardware that is connected to my PC, where software keeps records, and displays results.

While the position is very much not ideal for getting full wind speed (I have neighbor trouble which had me put it pretty low and not very far from the house), relative values mean something.  Yesterday logged the highest gust seen in any January since my software started keeping monthly records about ten years ago at 40 mph.  Yesterday logged the highest short-term (I think 10 minutes) average wind speed for January at 20.5 mph.  Yesterday logged the highest "daily wind run" ever seen at my station at 294.1 miles.

Now if you live in Kansas these seem like nothing, but bear in mind that my equipment is reading way low.

Trust me--it was windy.  But the main thing is that it stayed windy for a very long time.  About 4:45 a.m. to 10:15 p.m.

I think that's longer and higher wind than when hurricanes come my way, yes we get much longer winds and yes we get higher wind gusts during those storms but not together like that. At my old house, which is around the corner from my new house, there was a nearly constant wind tunnel between the homes but even then it was not as high a wind as you are seeing.

Do you have a wood/pellet stove or a fireplace to keep you warm? I have gas logs that I use to keep the heatpump from running when it's below about 50F. I have about a 2000sqft home not counting the garage of course.

No I don't.  I do have a natural gas fired furnace.  Two 1600 watt electric heaters (the ends of my Mobile Home get cooler than the middle.  And 4 Boinc systems (gpus that throw heat in 3 of them) generating waste heat from my hobby.

Due to Family Drama I am on the hook for High School Student delivery and pickup.  Which means I have been scrapping off ice all week.  I have some hope that the school district will get a bus solution sorted out.  Preferably sooner than later.
