We're all in the smokers

Message 64801 in response to message 64800

We're all in the smokers section. Not an easy thing, as it only measures 4 by 6 feet.

I've learned that a little liquid smoke goes a long way. But it is not up to par with the taste of meat from a wood smoker. I used to have an old refrigerator (remember rounded corners and big chrome handle/latch?) that I had converted into a smoker. The wood/smoker box was built off to the side and used a blower to force the air. Could smoke 6 turkeys at a time reddish/pink throughout and the meat would fall off the bones. Damn, I wish I still had it.

He he he. Our UK fridges are still like that!!!

Probably built to last too. One is lucky to get 10-15 years out of today's appliances here. I have a cousin that has a frig and chest freezer from the 60's still going strong.

(Sorry about the length of time to response, I had missed it before)

Recorded as British slang in

Recorded as British slang in 1890, popular notion that the word is an acronym from portout(ward), starboard home, said to be the preferred accommodation on ships traveling between England and India, is w/o foundation. - Random House Webster's Dictionary
