A suspect has been arrested, and required transport out of district for his own safety. It is crucial that it is known firmly that he is truly the culprit, else two errors are made ( convicting an innocent, and allowing the guilty free to light another day ). Mind you, even behind bars will not be safe ....

I am probably going to regret this.. but I understand Emotions are running high but remember your a Doctor

This is a view from last

This is a view from last Saturday evening looking roughly north of west over Healesville toward Chum Creek. My house ( but not us, since we'd long gone by then ) is on this side of the farthest hill in the middle background.

A wind change saved it, and the town also, but of course at a price paid by others. Some good news today though - several thought to have perished had not after all!

The paddock over the road,

The paddock over the road, was waist high grass. It's our bolt hole now.

Today we have good news of overseas firefighters arriving, many from the USA - thanks very much as our lot are pretty knackered! :-)
The Red Cross appeal has raised an enormous amount of funds, for which those in need are very thankful. There is a good chance of containing the fires this week, but it will take the onset of winter to extinguish them.

Cheers, Mike.

Yeah it's coming good, and life is normalising. Rain expected later this week, maybe as soon as tomorrow! :-)

A French ship running into an English one! ( or vice versa ). Like that's never happened before .... :-)

Bound to happen one day, with over five decades of launches. We are a messy lot.

It looked like an iridium

It looked like an iridium satellite collided with that russian satellite

I just remembered it you got clear skies... just before sunrise or sunset, you can detect iridium flares (reflections of sunlight off their solar panels.. When I get a chance I look for them on my deck at sunset.

If you know your approximate lat and long, here is site that can determine a possible iridium flare in your neighborhood..

That's a neat site, Rod. I remember the first time I saw the space station passing overhead when the geometry was right. Amazing how much is up there.
It predicts a magnitude minus 8 flare this evening for Iridium 40, so there's some hope of seeing through smoke. We'll see. ( with magnitudes, more negative is brighter & more positive is fainter. A minus logarithmic thingy. )

Cheers, Mike.
