I was just curious.... I know there is Climate Predict that you might have to work a year ???? on before you get a whole chunk of credits. I started there and after a couple of months I only had 500 credits and would prefer to see mine coming in more frequently.

This is no longer the way CPDN is working: while the workunit indeed may take several months, there will be (roughly about daily) uploads of intermediate results (so called trickles) which will earn you credit. It seems that the credit/day ratio is about the same as with E@H. There are some extra credit allotments for passing certain stages in the simulation, but all in all the "credit flow" from a CPDN workunit is very linear.

At boincstats are still 1024 credits shown, and has get 431 credits yesterday.
I hope that his credits will be zeroed and the account would be deleted.

The reason is that he had pending wus on his account, so the project admin has to delete credit and account after all the credit has been granted.

@Admins: It seems like all his pending credit is granted now, so please delete the credit.

@all: STOP RUNNING

@all: STOP RUNNING Predictor@Home!!! Here's what the admin over there wrote:

If someone has installed the boinc client on machines that they do not have permission to that is wrong. I have no way of knowing if this has or hasn't happened. Just because "some guy" posted something on the internet is not good enough reason to take any action against anyone.

Well, from his point of view,

Well, from his point of view, I don't think that's such an awful thing to say. It's common knowledge that the Internet is often abused for denounciation (sp?) and flame wars, so I think it's understandable if someone has problems telling the difference.

Well, I have to admit that's

Well, I have to admit that's kind of distressing, since this case is not just a matter of "..some guy posting something on the internet..".

IIRC it came about because of a non participant discovering BOINC running on his machine and asking about it on one of the projects and/or BOINC enthusiast sites. AFAIK, it was researched by several projects, deemed a valid abuse situation and acted upon accordingly.

OTOH, they've been up to their you know what in alligators over on PAH lately, and Dave's reaction was kind of out of character, so I'm going to leave the jury out for the time being. But you wouldn't think it would be a big deal to get in touch with other project Admins to get the low down on the case.

PAH has their own agenda.

PAH has their own agenda. They have ticked off many crucnhers. It is one of the reasons Paul gave up and left BOINC'ing, and the WIKI. They just do not listen to real world experience. I was locked out myself, for speaking my mind on their site. I was stating truth, yet I was locked. I refuse to do work there, or even visit the site ever again.

Disclaimer:
That is my personal opinion. Your results may vary. I am not affiliated with any of the projects, Paul, the WIKI, etc. I am solely responsible for what I wrote in this message.

Yep, Dave seems to be taking

Yep, Dave seems to be taking pretty "Herbert" attitude right at the moment. I'm starting to think about detaching now, although with the ridiculous physical memory requirements for the beta testing of tasser my PAH hosts have been active since the last study ended.

Predictor@home is censoring

Predictor@home is censoring massively at their boards and is restricting the freedom of opinion of their registered users in an inappropriate manner. After a discussion had started about the attitude of the project administration towards a big cheating issue in this thread. That thread was closed immediately to avoid any different opinion.

After that any new discussion thread and any question concerning "censorship" were "answered" with the immediate deletion of the postings/threads. Even accounts were fully blocked for posting (in my case until the year 2038!!).

I think it is not acceptable that the freedom of opinion is restricted in that way and I want to ask the BOINC community members to form an opinion about this. Try for yourself and start asking about this all at the P@H message boards!

In between even account creation was disabled to prevent the "bad users" from posting further questions. After that didn't help meanwhile whole IP ranges are blocked from access to the complete Predictor homepage!

There's an ongoing discussion over at the BOINCstats forum, where also the beginning of this whole mess is to be found. See: Trojan boinc installation by rogue member

Well keep in mind that free

Well keep in mind that free speech doesn't really apply here. The projects may be "public", but they have the right to run them anyway they see fit. This includes the right to allow or disallow anything they want on their forums.

Given that, the only option you have to indicate your displeasure is by not contibuting your CPU time.

Although in this case I personally feel they are dead wrong not to can the account in question, but once Dave said he wasn't going to do anything about it and not to post regarding the whole issue anymore what did you think was going to happen? It's not like we haven't been down this road before.
