Thanks. Giving historical information is part of being a museum volunteer. Not my favorite part. I do it better in writing than speaking to an audience.

So I do a Google on "sidestep

So I do a Google on this "sidestep oi", not knowing of what you speak, and hit #1 is :

.... so is this for peoplepersons who already know each other socially or what ? :-)

I looked up the meaning of 'uchiro geri' = "Geri Halliwell is itchy", and 'gyaku mawashi geri' = "this Japanese guy wants to wash Geri Halliwell". Probably because she's itchy.

Cheer, Smike.

( edit ) 'gyaku mae geri' = "this Japanese guy really wants to wash Geri Halliwell"

Oh :) It's an ancient summer

Oh :) It's an ancient summer custom here, Mike. You must try it if you ever manage to get through passport control. It took me awhile to work out that it was only performed when greeting a friend who had their head in a cloud of biting midges, but as long as you don't knock out any teeth, you'll be fine.

edit: not just friends... anyone really...

...maybe even at passport control...

there was a huge gap here. I've made it go away now

Well, seems people think I won.  Let me see I said

well, since a mod here seems to insist perhaps I should pick a 3 bit binary number as the winner for the next one?
