I'm winning on a thundery

I'm winning on a thundery evening.  It went from clear and sunny to black in like an hour.

It's clear and going to be sunny today, we have company today and we are going to the "Wings Over Myrtle Beach" air show today starring the Blue Angles, should be fun with temps in the low 70's. I am definitely winning!!

We get that DownUnda too. We call it 'sunset with bang', after the cumulus clouds have been accumulating all day we get these massive anvil shaped thunderheads. They scare the crap out of me so time to duck for indoors.

It's autumn now : 'bleached' skies, high wispy streaking clouds, nippy cold winds, trees a riot of color, and a winsome feeling ..... triggering one of my earliest memories from three years old ( 1963 ) walking through an autumn park. I wuz filled with wonder at the colors and how the sun sparkled through the leaves. A simple observation which I now know the science of. No less beautiful for the knowing though. Over half a century b/w me now and me then ..... but my memory is crystal clear about that day. I had a bag in my hand with a gingerbread man to take home and ask Mum to bake it. I'd made it at kindergarten. It had gone floppy but Mum straightened it up & cooked it in our wood stove. We lived up country then in a beef/milk district, within an old house in a small town called Alexandra. My Dad worked as an office clerk at the local shire building, doing night schooling for civil engineering ( ten years ago I completed an IT degree by much the same method at the same institution ). My elder twin brothers were infamous for setting the petrol bowser on fire at the truck depot next door .... I think we only stayed two years.

The past is another country : they do things differently there. Carpe Diem !! :-)

Cheers, Mike.

I'd be up for that ! You know, bucket list and all. Now do I know of any Aussie Airforce pilots ........ :-)

Here is the family friendly version of my ride, edited from a POV stream within cabin. Risque comments from myself to Steve excluded and some bits where I've legally disowned my facial expressions. I swear I did 3 laps, but clearly only two. Time goes weird when the adrenaline kicks in.

.... yeah, casual like. I do it everyday. :-))

Cheers, Mike.

How fast???

The end is in sight but no

The end is in sight but no one has yet claimed the podium.

As an aside great video but I am more interested in how many Gs  rather than how fast.

That's just before braking on the back straight. Sadly by the time my turn came up, the already roaded tyres were well worn and so he was braking prior to the 100m mark. Normally if Steve brakes just forward of that, good warm tyres & racing fuel etc, he'd get another 20 - 30. Interestingly the Elf can give another 5 - 10 on the top speed. The category rules limit engine exchanges over the year, as usual the trick to avoiding that is RPM and temperature limiting.

Cheers, Mike.

Mike you are the grand prize

Mike you are the grand prize winner, by being the last person to post in the month of April, my time zone. Enjoy the podium.

Thank you very much Betreger

Thank you very much Betreger ! :-)

I attribute the win to all this speedy business I've been up to.

I'll shortly fire up a new thread when I can think up something suitably ...... err ...... peculiar ? ;~I

Cheers, Mike.
