There's no problem with the

There's no problem with the multiple threads - please don't worry about it.

Here is a summary of what happened with your long running result. Actually, it didn't finish at all!! BOINC terminated it with the message "Maximum CPU time exceeded". This message should have been visible on the messages tab of BOINC Manager and will probably have been saved in one or both of the text files that BOINC writes to called stderrgui.txt and stderrdae.txt in your BOINC folder. Here is a link to this message in the Wiki.

Your machine now has a new CPUID on the website so a bit more than just an uninstall/reinstall has happened. Your list on the website shows your new CPUID which is 438959 so you now have two entries for the same machine there. Your previous results plus the Client error are still perfectly visible there. Do you know how to use the information on the website? I'm willing to talk you through the stuff that will make it easier to see for yourself what is going on.

I still really think your "problem" on this machine is related to Win98 and is probably going to come back at some stage. I've had Win98 do similar things back in early Seti days. The cure was to patch Win98 to get rid of the issues.

Cheers,
Gary.

The machine in question has only completed 1 other job in 9:57 ....

Using this "clue", I am guessing you are talking about CPUID 438453

Gary,

Check result #2560473 on box 438543. I think that's the culprit, even though it has 3 completed results, the time matches.

(edit)If I email to the gaming place, will it get through to you? ws, or sc?

Ford, details, brother, we (mainly Gary) need specific info to diagnose and help. Also, it would be better if you use just one thread for all these "getting started" problems, instead of opening a new one for each question.

Regards,

Michael

Michael,

Here's the info you requested
2560473
Nov 8
Server State - over
Outcome - Success
Client state - done
CPU time - 35836.56

The computer is an Athlon 1.2 (thunderbird core) running at 1.3
I hope that's what you needed.

Thanks Gary, I appriciate it. You Phd's have got to remember your dealing with a person with only an undergraduate minor in physics that included only 10 hrs of astronomy. And still do some astrophotography with my C-8 or just gazing on a night when the conditions are good and I can get far enough away from the rapidly expanding town of Branson, MO and the light polution that goes with it. But I'll do my best to be as accurate and thorough when posting. I will check out the "information" on the website and will get back if I need help. My only concern at this point is that in doing the uninstall/reinstall I have rendered my account "unusable" for lack of a better term. If there is something I need to do to correct any errors let me know. In the process of switching from the FaD project to yours and Rosetta, I have had little or no time to read most the help files and the data on the websites. But I will get around to it.
