At least the staff is safe (according to initial reports). This was an almost direct hit by one of the worst storms to hit Puerto Rico in modern times, so at least some damage could be expected :-(.
Puerto Rico has no electricity. Its power plants were already old, burning oil. But most power lines were destroyed by Maria and have to be rebuilt. Former NY Mayor Cuomo has brought supplies and personnel to help rebuild them, but it is difficult to work if you don't have electricity.
Google translate does a pretty good job of putting it into workable English.
For me the big revelation was what structure actually fell. While called a line feed, it has the appearance of a 100 foot long antenna hanging down from that stuff that is suspended over the dish. I had imagined a much more substantial part of the suspended stuff was gone than is.
Given that funding for continued operation was far from assured, I'd not wish to spin that a fix to get most capabilities restored will happen soon if ever, but appears likely to be much cheaper than I had imagined.
Jennifer Lopez has donated one million dollars to her home country but I believe many more are needed. The Puerto Rico citizens are American citizens, and Congress should help them.

Puerto Rico may not have any electricity for months. I believe that Arecibo is not their main concern, they have bigger problems.
