I don't think the problem is

I don't think the problem is fixed. I tested for a few hours at seti until boinc warned about suspicious pulse results and after that a lot of invalids popped up.

I tried 4 times to install it on a 6 core pc with Win7 Ultimate and a 7970 and it failed all 4 times, I gave up and am using the old stuff again. The pc does get updates because it's a Boinc only machine, I wonder if that was the problem?

Mikey,
If you still want to mess with it - try running this
AMD Clean Uninstall utility on the old drivers first.

Thanks I will try that today.

No luck so I went back to an older version and it works just fine. The uninstall worked just perfect, the install of the crimson is what didn't work at all. It just stops at 2% and then says 'the program has stopped do you want to quit or wait', I gave up after 10 more minutes of it doing nothing at all.

I've been reading on some other forums (I think it was Guru3D?) that it can be really slow, on occasion upwards of 20 minutes, something to do with cards that are no longer being used on a machine but are still registered in Windows device manager (show hidden).

RE: Did anyone test if this

Did anyone test if this driver fix the problem of invalids when you run 2 or more WU at a time on a R9 390X?

I ran 2 wu's on a r9 280x without errors. Crimson seems to be the future with amd. I have my 3 machines running fine - no errors. From 280x to 265 multiple wu's ( meaning 2 in my case). I am talking about Einstein only!!!! I don't use any cards that are older than the 265.

I finally tried it on a 2nd 7970 in a different machine and indeed it did take a L-O-N-G time, @20 minutes, for it to finally install. It's the only gpu that Windows has ever seen on that pc so I don't know what the holdup was, but it is working now. Thanks for the help!!
