Now I found it out: On

Now I found it out:

On Linux hosts (debian) BOINC is looking for sufficient disk space in the root partition "/" and not in /usr, /var, /tmp or others.

So long I couldn't detect any special file name in "/" for this purpose nor a parameter to point to an IMO appropriate partition BOINC should use.

BOINC uses these three

BOINC uses these three preferences to set up the amount of disk space to use:

In the computing preferences
Disk and memory usage
Disk: use at most X GB
Disk: leave free at least
Values smaller than 0.001 are ignored
Y GB
Disk: use at most Z% of total (disk space)

Now especially the last one is significant, as it checks the total drive space for the disk or partition that BOINC is installed on.

Which then makes it interesting to see what values you filled in.
Mind that you can also fill in these values in BOINC Manager's local preferences, which will override the web-preferences. So check both places.

NOW AFTER THAT FIASCO I AM ONLY ALLOWED THE RUNNING OF 2 UNITS AT A TIME AND FEEL PUNISH Atheros Bluetooth deviceED.IT WAS NOT THE COMPUTER THAT WAS THE PROBLEM, BUT MY IGNORANCE.ALL THE REST OF MY TASK SAY PENDING AND I AM ONLY ALLOWED TO RECIVE 2 WU TO RUN AT A TIME. i HAVE A I7 3730k WITH EIGHT CORES AND NIVIDA GE 680. I AM NOT BRAGGING BUT I KNOW THAT I AM CAPABLE OF A LOT MORE WORK AND GREATER PRODUCTION.WOULD IT BE POSSIABLE TO RECIVE MORE UNITS TO RUN INSTEAD OF UNITS TO WORK WITH PLEASE. I AM FALLING BEHIND. The moral of the story -

The moral of the story - don't fiddle with settings if you aren't 100% sure of what will happen :-).

If you trash tasks that are assigned to you, your ability to download further tasks will be progressively restricted and at the worst could get down to 1 task per CPU core per day. If you only have 2 running tasks and 6 idle cores, and if you cannot get any more tasks, it most probably means that (for the current day) your allocation was 1 task per core and you already have been allocated 8 tasks of which 6 have been trashed. Your computers are hidden so you have made it impossible for anyone wanting to help to see what is really going on.

The important thing to realise is that as soon as you return a successful task, your allocation (1/day) will double and if you return a second successful task, it will double again. So, potentially, the two remaining tasks you have (when completed and returned) could allow you to receive an extra 32 CPU tasks (4 tasks x 8 cores) without even considering what you might be able to get for your GPU.

Are you supporting any project other than Einstein? If not, those two remaining tasks you have should complete quite quickly on an i7.

EDIT: Having now thought about all your messages about pending downloads (and perhaps pending uploads) it occurs to me that perhaps you have inadvertently turned off network activity in BOINC Manager. Can you please check that network activity is not somehow disabled? Check the 'Activity' menu item in BOINC Manager.

Cheers,
Gary.
