I am certain that E@H will not be involved with the cryptocurrencies.
Those out there who have been recently trying to get advertising references to same in their E@H profiles can thank me ( at least ) for bouncing you.
The incentive ( or not as you view it ) to be involved in E@H remains the same as ever : contribute to real productive scientific investigations on a volunteer basis, with BOINC style credits awarded.
Cheers, Mike.
I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

@Mike: First of all I want to thank you for your great work behind the scene to fend off all the ones who are trying to abuse this platform :-)
This is exactly what I'm thinking about - "contribute to real productive scientific investigations on a volunteer basis, with BOINC style credits awarded !" But what does this really mean ? Anyone who choose to participate in such a project will become a member of a "sports club" which are organized in leagues. Beginners are starting with now or little experiences about and most of them lose interest after a short time, only a few have enough patience and fun. That's the way of recruiting new members, always. But why leaving ? There are surely many reasons, but one important point is that they cannot see any result, neither in scientific terms, yet appreciation, if ever so small. Ok, some cobblestones, but what are cobblestones ... they are used by rioters to hit policemen ! I cannot remember, when we got a part of it, that we received any "brochure" with thanks, incentive, explanations, information ... a link to the homepage is definitively not enough ! And believe me: I do not want "shutting down" and then starting again with a new account, only to find out if there were some changes in the past :-)
In science competition prevails, as in all areas of our society, everyone wants to be the first with a groundbreaking publication. If anyone claims otherwise he is a hypocrite ! Yes, we are proud to be among to the first hundred, We are feeling like sportsmen (even though I am one of the laziest citizens in town :-) But let's be honest: To crunch and crunch and crunch ... with no effective (personal) feedback, not seeing any "real result", sometimes it could be hard to believe to make a useful contribution. I tried to explain to our grandchild (one of our running desktop, earlier owned by Basil before he received a laptop, ran for E@H by Basil himself) that it works like all things in our life: A lot of participants but only rare winners does not mean that participation is worthless. OK, it was a try ...
Looking forward,
Arthur & Laura

Notwithstanding the natural desire of participants to make a 'touchdown' there is still much good besides of material scientific interest in the project. I tend to think of it like the classic candlestick or silhouettes :
... meaning that this area of gravitational wave astronomy is so novel that I reckon there is much to be made of either the black or the white pixels, as it were. It is already the case that we have all collectively contributed to the bounding of parameters in theoretical models of stellar behaviours and distributions, which is of much use to the modelers. Our data analysis is without precedent and much can/will be gleaned by aggregated views upon it. Who can say what is or will be significant ? Personally I expect surprises ..... :-)
Cheers, Mike.

One guy/gal will hopefully be the one to say "Oh, wait, over here, quick, I think I found something", but that doesn't mean the effort of all the other guys was in vain. Excluding space where nothing is found is important.
It's interesting to see from the link at the start of the thread the uptick in the number of active users by about 1000 in the last couple of days.
It looks as if a number of folks may well be registered on Einstein as a backup project in case their preferred project goes down for a few days.
