Well I've found the problem! My Zotec X980ti is borked, it just dropped out of P2 and wont allow it again:-(
I'll have to trace paperwork to see if I cam get a RMA for the dratted thing:-(

Oh that's not good.

Is it running two 980 Ti? If so try taking out the good one and see if it gets back to life, if it does, what power supply are you running ?

@AgentB I got it to work

@AgentB

I got it to work again, trouble is if its done it once the chances are it will do so again:-( The Firm I got it from emailed me to say I might wish to get credit for it against another card, troble is they want ALl the original stuff that came with it, and I don't have all of it, I've emailed them about that and am awaiting a response..

And if course I need to save enuff dosh to add to any credit to get a decent replacement card of better spec... All part of life's rich pattern..
Anyway it seems all the new WU are for CPU for some time to come and my CPU's are working for another project, so I wont be doing any of the new stuff until
its available for GPU's.

Hi Folks, After much faffing

Hi Folks,
After much faffing about, it looks as if it was NOT my GTX980ti at fault but my CPU, a FX9590BE. It starts to lockup at just over 30C when running 2 CPU tasks.

This borks the graphics card[s]WU and results in computational errors in GPU tasks and failure to write to the WU state file for the CPU tasks in progress, resulting in re-running those tasks, I don't know if they would validate so opted to abort them.

I've dropped running more than 1 CPU task and my rig ran ok for 3 hours without problems, other than my work rate being cut by 50%..

I'll continue to run 1x CPU, until I can afford another FX9590 and swap out the present CPU for a new one and RMA the faulty one.

But that wont be before next month:-(

Are you sure your motherboard can handle that CPU? Not all "compatible" motherboards are compatible with FX-9590 under heavy load, even if they claim to be. That CPU needs the best power design on the board or something can even burn.

Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 it can handle it, supposedly:-)
Frankly its a bit like a bad case of the gremlins, focus keeps shifting from 1 item to another and back again:-( Had device driver dropout on the 1st gtx980ti.. primary device. had to reboot and install an older driver because with all the messing about I'd re-installed the latest NVidia driver and it has the eject bug.. But now my FP audio is AWOL.. if its not one thing its another.

And the mobo is a recent replacement, about 4 months because the last one has a damaged pcie slot card retainer..
In any event I'm out of things to try, I simply don't have the kit to swap out everything that 'might' be responsible.
