For sure there is a "screensaver" under Linux !!
Have a look at the FAQ under "screensaver for MAC and linux", somewhere at the middle of the list is your solution, if you are running the 4.19 client at least.
It works through telnetting into localhost 31416. (you should have the telnet service running, of course).
telnet localhost 31416
Wait for connection and type:

Mmm, nothing is happening. No screensaver, no graphics. Any hints?
No need for telnet anymore. With BOINC 5.2.* just select
an Einstein WU and hit the "show graphics" button. Make sure
you activated 3D acceleration though.
For me (SUSE 9.3; NVIDIA 76.76 drivers and the standard Einstein application)
it works fine.
I have an amd64 3770 running gentoo linux and I had the x86_64-pc-linux-gnu unknown problem. I dowloaded the v.15 beta einstein and I happily einsteining

You should use the anonymous platform support http://boinc.berkeley.edu/anonymous_platform.php or you don't get the new Albert application when it's needed.

The .15 beta already comes with an app_info.xml file. Is this enough?
