It ended up taking a year and a day to hit 1 billion here, 1.121bn overall. Because of how much silicon NVidia spent on aspirational features and where they ended up pricing cards as a result I haven't upgraded any hardware this year like I expected to; and probably won't until next years GPU refresh improves the cards bang for the buck. ETA for 1.5bn is March 2020; but I'll almost certainly have a faster GPU before then.
1.5BN E@H, 1.68 BOINC wide. My main rig's still on a GTX1080; I upgraded my older ones from a GTX970 and RX560 for post coincrash GTX 1070's, although that was mostly about reducing my power bill. I did get a mild performance bump but lost it as newer WUs paid out a bit. ETA for 2bn is sept 13 2021. OTOH I will be buying a new GPU for my gaming system this summer; and the pushdown will retire one of the 1070s (I'm power bill capped to 3 GPUs).
I got a 3070 (vs the 3080 I really wanted) and hit 2 bn a few months earlier than originally expected (and am coming up on 2.2bn boinc wide).
The 3070's rather less of a bump than I was hoping for, and I'm looking at 11/22 months for 2.5/3bn. Hopefully at some point before then the crypto bubble will pop and I can pick up a faster card.
I managed to score a 3080 from EVGA's queue about a year ago and reached 3bn about 2 months ago without noticing.
Between the rest of my 4790k gaming system needing replaced, the high costs of the current generation of cards, and how much I spent on 2 last year I'm probably going to keep my current GPUs for 2 more years until the 50xx/8xxx cards are out.
Boincstat's prediction based on no new GPUs is 5bn in 2 more years. But if BS is using their internal RAC measure which hasn't updated for BRP tasks giving much less credit, it'll only be about 4bn in 2 years.
