Woohoo! It's the fourth of July! Break out the fireworks... it's time to celebrate the country's independence by blowing small pieces of it up. Bottle (penny) rockets anyone? There's only 2 states I know of in which those are still legal for sale. SD and MO. Luckily I stocked up on my last trip to the St. Louis area... :)

I'll do my best but they seem to get the traveler's blues pretty quick and settle for the neighbor's yard or roof as the destination.

I bought a new network card, just to check if that's causing my hangs
so I disabled the old one in Windows, shut down, took card out, put new one in, rebooted and it found the new card and immediately started using the same drivers as before. "No", I said, "try these, the real drivers for this card". Inserted CDROM, chose the correct card. Windows said, 'hey but these drivers are better'. "No, use the drivers I pointed at, stupid".
rebooted.
no network.
reinstalled the apparent correct drivers again, rebooted, no network.
reinstalled the original drivers it was using the first time, have network (without reboot).
updated the drivers to some of the latest, still have network.
so um, why does this company provide drivers with their hardware when it doesn't work?

Then again, always useful to have a Realtek chipset on them.
