Ahem!

I wonder if he was referring to that Snodgrass fellow on his first post...

I know I'm no longer in the first flush of youth and may have expanded in a few areas, but the last time I looked I hadn't grown any dangly bits.

My apologies kind lady...I seem to have left off a letter somewhere.

I have had a message,

I have had a message, admittedly somewhat garbled, from me 'ole mate Sid. Apparently the Officers Mess sent a runner up into the foothills, and managed to find him. He has subsequently cut short his quest for the Yeti, and is returning via packhorse and steamer.

Waiting for Godot & salvation :-)

There I was having a

There I was having a postprandial glass of port don'tcha know, when this young fellah me lad, rudely interrupts my soujourn without so much as a by your leave, to inform me that my presence is required poste haste back in Blighty.

Whilst incarcerated upon the Steam Packet to Liverpool, I received a telegraphic despatch, informing me that my true love, Muriel Miggins, has been found alive and apparently well. Indeed, what a brouhaha that caused in the Petty Officers Mess I can tell you.

I have taken temporary lodgings at my Club whilst I arrange for the rest of my effects to follow me. By the by has anyone had sight of the dear lady yet?

Not in the Antipodes. For sure she is not in the clutches of that cursed Malborough, young Churchill?! I hear he's off to the Sudan after Kitchener, and may the Nile swallow them both .....

Good to see you back in dear

Good to see you back in dear old Blighty, Sidney. The last I heard you were being held by the Bolsheviks, which for a man of your years must have been very painful.

I have been developing a linctus for just such occasion but up to now I’ve only managed to try it on the vicars Jack Russell.

For sure she is not in the clutches of that cursed Malborough, young Churchill?

Alas I have never been clutched in almost a year and a day, gone are the days when I was a little frippet, but I live in hope that I can share a bit of crumpet on the veranda.

Now will someone pass the port?

Crikey M'lady, I may get my just desserts at last. Not a trifling matter. I might have a byte after all ... a'fore Sidney returns.
