If two PCs have same ID, why

If two PCs have same ID, why would they be given same task?  Wouldn't the server think they are the same machine asking for more work?  I've had two machines do that in another project when I cloned one, they were fine, just difficult to see what tasks were assigned where.  The server just saw a machine managing twice the work it should.
