Sorry if I haven't noticed,

Sorry if I haven't noticed, but I don't see how many BRP4G WUs are you running concurrently for these results. 2 ?

Btw, the 44 C GPU temp at such high load is just hard to believe ;-))

as stated in the proposal message in this thread, the workflow component of the proposed test conditions was:
1. zero CPU jobs
2. zero iGPU jobs
3. two-up BRP4G nvidia GPU jobs

Possibly you are not used to looking at such low power cards? Also the lack of CPU jobs meant less heat was being added to the box as a whole than usual.

For a low power card, the cooling (sinks, fans, heat-pipes) on some 750(Ti) cards I have seen so far look ridiculously oversized. I guess most of it is equivalent to the 4th smakestack on the HMS Titanic: just for show. ;-) ).

Yes the 4th, rear most, stack on the Titanic was for esthetics, 3 made that huge ship look funky with their required placement, while adding the 4th balanced the look.

Yep, definitely a fake, the Royal Navy has never had a ship called HMS Titanic, White Star Line on the other hand had a ship called RMS (Royal Mail Ship) Titanic.

Alex and archae, thanks for doing this comparison.

If I'm understanding you correctly, the early results appear to show that the extra cash outlay for the Ti version is NOT a good value, if your primary concern is crunching economically.

Heads up: I just found that tigerdirect.com is offering the non-Ti 1 GB superclocked version (EVGA part #...2753...) with a $10 rebate that brings it down to the same price as the non-superclocked (...2751...) card. The rebate is offered until March 31.

Remember that your extra outlay is paying, not just for speed, but for an extra GB of memory too.

Over the 3-5 year expected lifetime of a card like this, my betting is that more projects will expand to fill the 2 GB offered - GPUGrid are already doing this. Since I doubt the VRAM is field-upgradeable, you may come to feel that the smaller card was a false economy.

EVGA also has the 2 GB barebones (2752) and superclocked (2754) cards, but neither tigerdirect nor newegg lists them. Newegg is also offering the rebate on the 1 GB superclocked version (2753).

Pardon me for asking here, but would the extra memory make much difference on Seti work?

And Douglas Adams wrote a book about the Starship Titanic, which ceased to exist entirely. (I think. I couldn't follow the book and never finished it.)

I'm guessing that there are supply-volume problems, so soon after release. Some of the UK resellers are listing them, but with notes alongside saying things like "Pre-order here. Deleiveries expected 31 March"

Not needed for SETI (currently), certainly useful for GPUGrid, other projects' needs will vary over the lifetime of the card (but usually upwards).
