Just in case someone else stops by here, it may be best to point out that the way to "enable beta" does not actually contain the word "beta". It is to be found on the user's Einstein account web pages, in the Einstein preferences page, with a question phrased as "Run test applications?". For a little extra complexity, this question must be answered positively for the specific one (of default, home, school, work) location (a.k.a. venue) to which a computer of interest is assigned.
2) Look for Preferences section and select the link:
Preferences for this project: Einstein@Home preferences
3) Look for Primary (default) preferences:
The sixth checkbox down should be "Run test applications?" Make sure it is enabled.
Look inside each location preference for "Run test applications?" if you have any locations other than default and modify accordingly.
Be careful, as you are now telling BOINC it's okay to run versions of the apps that haven't been fully tested yet, or haven't been approved as fit for general distribution.
In my experience, though, it's usually resulted in tasks that run anywhere from tiny bits to loads faster.
Some days ago I installed a MSI R7 370 graphics adapter on my Linux host Jente-3. I installed AMD Crimson edition 15.12 to get the right drivers for this card. In Computer preferences one CPU core is reserved to feed the GPU. Until now I don't receive GPU tasks, and all 4 CPU cores are happy crunching.

Hi Herman, i'm guessing you are running Ubuntu, or similar Debian Linux.
