Glad to hear that :-) but it's hardly surprising given that this app has been running on my box for about a month now without the slightest sign of problems (and even quite fast).
Bernd, thanks again, that was really great work! Those of us who like running the little devil on their boxes really appreciate it.
This is a bit delayed, but here are my impressions of the FreeBSD app:
I have it running on an SGI 1200 server, which is equipped with dual Pentium-III 700's, 256 Meg of memory, and DesktopBSD. I have three other identical SGI 1200's, except that they're running CentOS 5 Linux with the 4.27 power-users app. The BSD app is a bit slower than the stock Linux app, but now, it's pretty much getting blown away by the Linux power-users app. In fact, crunch times for the P-III 700 with the BSD app is now about the same, or maybe a tad bit slower, than my two P-III 450's that are running with the Linux power-users app.
On the positive side, the BSD app is very stable, and has never given me any trouble.
So, Bernd, if you get a chance to optimize the BSD app, I'll be more than glad to help you test it. ;)

Is anyone actually interested in running an Einstein@home FreeBSD App on a CPU not capable of SSE? Otherwise I'd like to go straight for the latest (and fastest) SSE code.
Well, personally, I'm running it on a 3500+ which has no problems with SSE, and, hopefully, I'll get sth even faster in fall or so. So for me it would be fine to get SSE-only code. A friend of mine who I know runs BOINC and Einstein on FreeBSD but doesn't read the message boards has it on a late-model Opteron which would also be fine. I don't know anyone running Einstein and FreeBSD on an older box...

That sounds like a good plan. My only BSD machine is SSE-capable.

Not I. Like Annika and Donald, the FreeBSD hosts I run it on are all SSE capable.
