Hmmm, did as you say, but all of the related boinc packages list the latest version as 7.18.1 for me.
I wonder if that's because you said you are using the 32bit version of Boinc and I believe they've stopped development on it and are only doing any required problem fixes now.
he's not using 32bit BOINC. where did you get that from? he's running 7.18, and I think they stopped 32-bit versions of BOINC well before that.
anyway, you can get a newer version of BOINC by adding the Gianfranco Constamagna PPA and installing from there.
no, he said "their page still recommends 7.4 for Linux x86" but that's not what he's actually using. he said several times that he's using version 7.18.1, easily verified by looking at his hosts. this comment is a bit irrelevant though, since he has x86_64 and is already using 64-bit boinc. maybe he didnt make the distinction between x86 and x86_64 or that "x64" is the same thing as x86_64
in any case, he can install a newer boinc version with the PPA i suggested.

My bad, that x86_64 is that same thing as x64 is indeed news to me. Whoever named this stuff should be sacked.
