Let me know how you scored on the BBC IQ test. However it might have a slight cultural bias towards the Brits, but I think I may need the advantage. :-)
Well, I got a 96: Logic 9/17, Observation 6/14, Reasoning 7/15, Picture puzzles 2/10, Visual Memory 11/14... About half way through I started recovering from the shock of the problems disappearing in front of me... I also see what you mean about the UK bias, but there weren't that many 'nation' questions, so I'm thick and slow. Fair dinkum. Good test. :)
No way, did I just hear a pin drop in here? Everyone must be over at Seti... ahh, the peace, the tranquility...
Es99, you've probably realized I haven't much brains for the picking, but if you wanted to start a Cafe Brain Picking thread (to invite others), I'm there dude. Pick my brains, pick my knows, pick my don't knows, but don't pick my friend's nose...
Michael R., I'm glad to know for certain that you're very intelligent (although it was pretty obvious). I like your sig, and have been wanting to ask you about it, but was afraid I might inadvertently offend or upset you. Since I'm not as intelligent, I can be now be certain of receiving a response that can only be educational. :) I believe your sig is true in a broad sense, but I was told (by a judge) that justice is a human decision made only in the courts, and also that it's the victors who write the history. (As you can see, I'm not waiting for a brain-picking thread.) Would you mind commenting a bit, briefly?

Chipper,
The quotation in my sig is from a speech by the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, civil rights activist and IMO one of the most powerful orators of our time, combining social and political activism with optimism. I've tried to pin down the venue, but have been unable to do so. Some other quotations from Dr. King:
"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
"A time comes when silence is betrayal."
"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
As to your inquiry about justice, brief is best, but today is a special day for me, so I'll elaborate. :-) Of the courtroom variety, I've been ill-served. Nine years ago to the day, I was arrested and consequently convicted on perjured testimony and underwhelming circumstantial evidence. Even at that, there existed much room for "reasonable doubt", but the court needed a conviction and they were able to shave enough rough edges from my "square peg" to be able to force-fit me into the "round hole". The good that came of it? I was a daily crack addict when I was arrested wanting to quit but unable to find the strength. I found strength while fighting for a retrial, and today I celebrate my 9th birthday, having emerged from addiction in much the same manner as I emerged from the womb. Justice, I think, is something that emanates from beyond the human level, and is echoed in humanity only to the extent to which we open ourselves to it and resonate with it. "The victors write the history" - I guess I have to agree with that, the victors certainly write it in larger typeface and in bolder print.
"Since I'm not as intelligent...", c'mon now, are you kidding me? I've read most of your posts on the science board. Your understanding of physics is way, way beyond mine, and your questions are astute and probing, I think - as I said, all that is way beyond my level.

Happy Birthday. It is at the times when things are hardest for us that we find out who we really are. You should be proud of what you have achieved, it is a testament your strength of character that you are here today and able to talk with us.

These are words to live by and I try, although I often fail. But it is our duty to speak out where we see wrong being done. It is my belief that most people in the world are good and want the same things, but weakness and fear can get in the way of people doing what they know to be right. We know that those that do speak out often pay a heavy price, but when an individual stands up to be heard wonderful things can happen and they can discover that they are not alone.
So Happy Birthday Michael, and I toast to the human spirit, because despite what we hear, there is more good in the world than bad.
Thanks, Michael. I knew your response would be educational. Inspirational is a total bonus! As freedom is very near and dear to me, and realizing the need to moderate it in the form of strong mutual guarantees known as civil rights, I'm particularly keen on

Also glad to know the context and source, which when it comes to quotes, is often times more profound, if not as short and sweet. Thanks again, Michael, and happy 9th - a toast to many more!
To those who read my explanation of Chipper Q's question and expressed their acceptance and support, I cannot thank you enough.
It was not easy or particularly comfortable for me to open myself to criticism, to reveal some vulnerabilities, or "warts", in fact, it was pretty scary. Your kind words are very rewarding.
To those who read and felt negatively about the double admission of drug history and ex-convict status, I'd like to express my gratitude for not flaming me, and I hope that you will continue to accept my contributions in both computer time and personal time on the help-desk.
Sincerely,
Michael
