Dan sends me the email.

Dan sends you naughty pictures of himself? Why doesn't he ever send me any?

He says you delete them for being obscene.

ah... added a second computer into the mix. It was all you could do to keep up with me eh?

If I should be absent from

If I should be absent from the boards for an extended period, it'll likely be due to having accidentally hypnotized myself :)

You are getting so good! It looks like you're down a wormhole in amongst the quantum foam and can't decide which way to go out! :-)
Cheers, Mike.

They really are very good. Do they take you long to do?

Thanks for the kind comments.

Thanks for the kind comments. They didn't take too long; better part of an evening, including time spent hypnotized. :)

Nice thing about POV-Ray is that you can keep it simple (put some spheres here, a cylinder with open ends there, with a light source and camera pointing at it all), and then you can immerse yourself in the complexity of textures, pigments, color maps, gradients, isosurfaces, media effects, and on and on. Tie it together with the built-in 'clock' variable to make the scene evolve with time. If it doesn't come out quite like you expected, chances are it will still be 'hypnotic'.

I don't know how realistic these are from a physics standpoint, but my first impression was similar to Mike's; I thought it could be a section of a magnetic flux tube, or maybe the business end of a hypernova...

This version has the camera on the same elliptical trajectory, but it's looking in the direction of its motion, instead of staying focused on a point near the center of the cylinder:

A realistic water molecule,

A realistic water molecule, and then lots of them in a jiggling equilibrium, are some things I eventually want to try; thought I'd start with something more positively charged: Cations...

Do I see Es

Do I see Es contained/restrained in a virtual prison?

Es, a habeas corpus writ is in process. Just say the word and I am sure Anton Scalia or Don Rumsfeld will free you, once I have filed.

ROFL. Okay, so I had some trouble scaling the image map onto the sphere...

LOL. I doubt she could be restrained thus; I'll try to refrain from rendering any more bad chemistry jokes... :(
