BOINC menubar

I'm running E@H on Mac OS X 10.3.8 and I'm trying to use the new menubar. I managed to get E@H added to the projects, but when I try to do anything through the menubar the I get the "working" symbol in the window and it will stay that way for hours. I also get this message in the log:

GUI RPC bind failed: -1

It doesn't appear to be updating the info in the pull down menu either. It's been at exactly the same percentage for a while. Any ideas?
