BOINC Mgr 5.2.1.3)suspended when (any) Screensaver tries to start.
I am running SETI and Einstein (Albert 4.37). All is well until it is time for Screensaver to kick in. Any screensaver trying to start will cause BOINC Mgr to suspend althouigh work unit continues to run although uploads/downloads do not take place. This situation has existed since the early upgrades of Boinc Mgr. I can display graphics on the running WU within Manager.
I am running project on a WIN XP Home (SP2) system with a 2.07 GHz AMD Athlon CPU with 512 MB RAM and a 120 GB HDD. My Graphic Display Adapter is NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600 with up to date Driver.
I have confirmed that the screensaver activity is the cause of suspension by arranging for my Display Unit to go into Standby mode before Screensaver delay time has lapsed. Then Manager continues to run OK.
This situation seems to have been rumbling on for some time now within the community. Has anyone found the root cause?

This message may apply to you as well. If not, post here again.
Stick,
Thanks for your advice. I have already set preference for project to always run, but to no avail. I note in your earlier posting that our colleague reports that when screensaver fails, a message sytates that BOINC is not active. I am sure that is due to the screensaver action suspending BOINC Mgr as I state in my posting.
Any other ideas?

David,
I must admit you have me stumped. You also have a failed result that has me stumped - Exit status 1 (0x1). I tried looking it up in the BOINC Wiki but couldn't find what it means. Can you correlate this failure with anything else you have observed?
Hopefully, this will attract the attention of people who know more about BOINC and/or Albert than I do.
Stick,
Thanks again for your thoughts. I wasn't aware of the "failed result.". I'll have a look at that if I can find it.
I haven't any other thoughts at this time on the Manager/screensaver problems but I'm not giving up the ghost yet awhile. I've been trawling every possible source for clues.
Thanks again,

David, I see that you've been returning successful results. Any idea what fixed the problem?
Dear Bruce,
I'm afraid I haven't been able to fix the BOINC Manager/Screensaver problem yet although as my results show that there is no problem processing the SETI/Einstein Work Units; the problem lies with the software management of the process.
Grateful for any help from BOINC HQ.

By DavidP,
Having looked again at the above posting, I'm not happy with it's vague nature.
The problem lies with the fact that for some reason If ANY screensaver is allowed to start whilst BOINC Manager is running then the Manager will immediately be suspended although the Work Unit(s) will contimnue to be processed. However all uploading/downloading activities will cease until the Manager is restarted. I manage to keep things going by not allowing a screensaver to start. I do this by arranging for my VDU to go into hibernation before the screensaver is due to start.

David,
I just checked the BOINC message boards and a couple of similar problems have been posted over there. Unfortunately, there is also another similarity to here - not many responses and no solutions yet. But, I thought you might want to keep in touch with what is going on over there - just in case something happens. (Also, by keeping this thread active, we may still be to attract some help here.)
