thanks for the suggestions, I cheked it and that's what I found out:
a) BOINC is running one task and so far nothing else at the moment, so I guess it's crunching on one core (?) I couldn't find an option to check this. The ambient room temperature is currently (I guess) about 25-28°C, but the phone or the battery itself is not warm at all, compared to the tempperature during actual charging.
b) Currently this system is only connected to Einstein@home
c) I'm using an official Samsung charger that is not connected over USB but the wall socket directly. However, it says that it's using 150mA (0.15A)... Could this be the cause? However the battery is not drained during the crunching.
edit: OK maybe I should mentioned the whole stuff, I'm not really an EE expert...
Input: 100V-240V~
50-60Hz 0.15A
Output: 5.0V - 0.7A
etc.
700mA still seems a bit low according to your definitions.
I should get a new charger I guess?
Alright I gathered some more wisdom and it seems that Boinc is only crunching while charging the battery (over 90% by default) and stops again after it's fully charged. It says that it's computing, but it's clearly not and the elapsed time simply counts up.
I tried your suggestion and it works now. After turning the WiFi only option back on I selected the project update. It connected and downloaded another WU.
So it may have just been a glitch in initially getting the project to run.

Any ideas?
OK I got it, apparently the phone runs on battery mode again as soon as it hits the 100%, even though I have connected it to the charger. I thought that would somehow be recognized.
Anyway, if you have the same problem, just allow BOINC to run in battery mode.
happy to see a android app for us. question, i run GPU only on my desktop (CUDA).
is there a way to run it on my android without running on my desktop CPU?

You have four different locations available to you (default, home, school and work), move one of the hosts to a different location, and make preferences suitable for it.
Have a problem with stall of computation on Samsung gs2. After little babysitting ;-) seems like battery overheats and client switch to suspended status. Then after while computing resumes but running tasks percentage stays still. And with suspending and resuming task restarts and new cycle begins...
