tictoc's triple rx 6900 xt

tictoc's triple rx 6900 xt system is running significantly less CPU time than task time.

It is in 7th place and coming on strong.

Free-DC says 5.7M yesterday and it is at 6.2M hours before midnight today.

tictoc posted somewhere that his threadripper rig has two Radeon VII (I hope I recalled this correctly). If you look into a few stderr output log files of the completed O3AS tasks, you will find "gfx906" in that file which refers to Vega 20 architecture (e.g. Radeon VII is one of them). I didn't see "gfx1030" which is Navi 21 architecture (e.g. 6900 XT). You probably already know that they way BOINC manager works is that when you have multiple gpus of different models, it will only show the fastest gpu model on that computer.

Likely that he didn't run O3AS on 6900 XT since my sample check of the stderr files did not reveal presence of gfx1030. 6.2M PPD from two Radeon VII is achievable. Also the rig has fast cpu (ryzen threadripper 3000 series) with some overclocking applied (4.15 GHz iirc), hence total cpu time is less than the overall task run time.

P.S. It's getting too hot here in late afternoon and evening, so I'm not running my rig during that period, so there will be some drop in PPD temporarily.

I am only running O3AS on the pair of Radeon VIIs in that machine.  In the past I was running BRP7 on the 6900xt, and I actually just started crunching BRP7 on it again. https://einsteinathome.org/host/12883441/tasks/0/0

It's easier to manage the GPUs in that machine in separate instances of BOINC, since they have radically different architectures and performance characteristics.

New AMD Instinct Mi100 card

New AMD Instinct Mi100 card for $664.35 shipped in ebay here. This is the first generation CDNA architecture from AMD that replaces Vega 20 architecture (e.g. Radeon VII). On paper should do very well in O3AS task, perhaps close to 2 times Radeon VII performance. Comes with huge 32GB vram.

Wondering if there is a mistake in the price of the card. A lot cheaper than Tesla V100 32GB pcie card or even the 16GB pcie version except the proprietary SXM2 version.

It put some thing around the new. So it might not be. Plus you will need cooling. And probably a video card for the monitor..

But eBay does have money back guarantee that doesn't completely depend on the seller refunding the money.

So if the Mi100 is twice the card for roughly twice the price that would make sense? (ignoring the cooling issue).

Yes I agree, EBAY also has a $10US cooling fan you can buy for the Mi100

Well all the five Mi100 cards (allegedly new) just sold off within 24 hours when I first saw them yesterday. For that price with 32GB vram, I think it is a bargain.

You don't need another video card for monitor output IF you already have ryzen 7000 series with iGPU, ryzen APU, most consumer Intel CPU or even a server motherboard that comes with BMC, with basic VGA output.

BTW, the VII old horse just took a nap for the next few months and I switched to P100 (another old horse) for gpugrid.
