In AVG, use the manual scan. Open AVG Test Center, Tests, Scan selected areas. Omit the directory, partition or drive BOINC lives in.
You can only select the User scan if you have the Professional version.
But yeah, it could cause problems. I am test running it especially on the BOINC folder to see if it then crashes Albert. ;)

'Course the error isn't occuring during the 45 minutes that AVG is doing the programmed scan, So I think that that isn't the cause of the error being generated.
If BOINC is installed in the profile space of a user, it might cause trouble. A team mate installed into his user desktop directory and (even without roaming desktop) got weird errors. All those "My ..." directories might not be a too good idea either.
I'm not sure if BOINC 5.x likes to be moved to a different HD or directory so this might be a reason too.
This "environment" error sounds as if it might be something like that.
Sorry, the database locked up and I wasn't aware that it still accepted my entry - no way for me to delete those duplicate entries so I emptied them :-/

kakius,
That is a good solution. Just download it, burn to floppy or optic disk, move it to the balky machine, and drag it into the Einstein folder.
