I hope you will like the new 3DNow! code. (If it will work...)
Thank You, Akosf!
I will let the current work unit finish ~1 hour 40 minutes, then try your new code. That should take about an additional 1 1/2 - 2 hours. So I expect to report back in 3-4 hours.
My athlon 1500's done 3WUs at an average of 2:07, C37 ranged from 2:25 to 2:35. I haven't tried it on my A64 since I've just upgraded it with H2O cooling and am working out how much extra speed I can squeeze out of the chip.

Dan,
Don't bother running C40 on the A64. C40 is for pre-SSE Athlons. :-)

I'm amazed, again! Just for grins I fired up an old dual Pentium Pro 200 in order to test some of these app's. It was the slowest thing I had laying around that had enough memory to run Boinc. Standard app would take way over 50 hours to complete a WU. C40 now does one in just a few minutes over 23 hours.

Just for comparison, I am running SuSE Linux 9.3 on a 400 MHz Pentium II (Deschutes) with Boinc 5.2.13. An Albert WU is done in 34,3 hours of CPU time. An optimized SETI app 4.07 by Ned Slider takes 11 hours. I am also ruuning a QMC app of Muenster University and (hopelessly) the BBC climate app.

Was running the standard client on my home PC (http://einsteinathome.org/host/577559) and workunits were running in +- 8hrs 20mins. Now the units are completing in 2hrs 45min. :D
Am now going to try it on my 2nd boinc machine. Old AMD Duron 650 with 256mb RAM running win98.

13% faster on an AMD Thunderbird 1.2GHz compared to C37. Thanks again, Akos!
Let's see how 3dnow works.

Hi Akosf,
alb_JoeB works well. 9800 seconds vs 11,000. And it validated. WELL DONE!
I will change my other canary over to alb_JoeB now.
THANK YOU

Well done Akosf!
Wish you can understand my English:)

Hi Akosf, Both my
)
Hi Akosf,
Both my Athlon computers are now running "JoeB".
The WCPUID characteristics of the second computer are:
AMD Athlon (Model 4)
Socket A (Socket 462)
Family 6 Model 4 Stepping ID 4 Standard
Family 7 Model 4 Stepping ID 4 Extended
L1 I-Cache 64K Byte L2 Cache 256K Byte
L1 D-Cache 64K Byte L2 Speed Full 1391 MHz
MMX Supported MMX+ Supported
SSE Not Supported 3D Now! Supported
SSE2 Not Supported 3D Now!+ Supported
SSE3 Not Supported
Memory 256 M Byte
This CPU would run with 387 but not any of the others
e.g. C40 until "JoeB". It appears that at lwast my plain
Athlons need the code "JoeB" to run.
Thank you again!!
